About

Sophie has a Degree in Architecture from the University of Technology Sydney ( First Class Honours ) is a Registered Architect and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects, with extensive professional building design experience across all project phases with strong client and stakeholder management skills.

Sophie has successfully led an Architecture practice with a focus on detailed Residential projects that delivers both sustainable and financial outcomes.

The philosophy of the practice is to “make a positive impact on the built environment “.

Prior to commencing the practice Sophie worked with a number of medium to large commercial practices on multi-residential and adaptive re-use projects within a larger team structure.

For 12 years Sophie has contributed to the Institute of Architects Built Environment Committee, Sustainability Committee and National Residential Advisory Group to advocate for better outcomes for the people of Sydney.

Sophie was awarded a Byera Hadley Scholarship by the Architects Registration Board NSW to research opportunities for improving the density, sense of community, affordability and sustainability of Sydney ’s housing, in line with the proposed “ Missing Middle” Policy. The written report was published with a subsequent paper published in the Fifth Estate media outlet.

While Sophie's work as an Architect and Interior Designer has predominately been in the Residential sphere Sophie is passionate about community, the arts, public space and Urban Design. Sophie has represented the Australian Institute of Architects in reviewing the NSW Governments' Sustainable Housing Initiative, the design of the AMP tower upgrade, the proposal for the Sydney Modern Project and recently the proposed Design and Place SEPP, specifically the proposed BASIX upgrades.

Sophie has spoken on panels to large audiences at the Sydney Build Conference on Circular Economy and Embodied Energy.

Sophie has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the newly formed Better Cities Initiative, a charity founded by Elizabeth Farrelly CEO.
